Ranaviru housing project in Matale

This is a rare opportunity to acquire a large piece of land adjoining one of the most beautiful beach stretches around Trincomalee, page
close to the famous Nilaveli beach.

The property has good road access and its rectangular shape makes it very suitable either for a small boutique resort or for the development of 2 or 3 high-end beach front villas.

The turquoise color of the water in this area is unmatched! Very tranquil and private surroundings.

The Ranaviru housing scheme is a development project run by the government in which soldiers and their families have been allocated houses in the Ranajayapura Project. The project is an initiative by the Defence Ministry. 1 509 houses have been built by the ministry in the Ranajayapura housing scheme for the benefit of the personnel of the three armed forces who were involved in the armed struggle against LTTE.

The "Api Wenuwen Api" house building sites were graced by a visit by Chairperson of Seva Vanitha Unit recently from the Defence Ministry Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa. The aim of the housing project and the initiative is to lift the standards of living of the military personnel and their families. MoD Seva Vanitha Unit is monitoring the housing project and the Ministry of Defence oversees the entire initiative to ensure that there is significant progress in building the target number of houses as well as ensuring that houses built meet the stipulated housing standards.

The initiative is not only limited to the building of houses for the military personnel and their families but includes the construction and development of roads, skincare
setting up of basic infrastructure and provision of essentials and amenities such as water and sanitary supply, electricity supply, etc. There have also been vested interests to develop the schools around the area. The project has so far seen the completion of hundreds of houses that have since been handed over. Part of the Urban Development Unit follow up phase and objective is to ascertain the welfare of the residents that are occupying these homes.

The Ranaviru Housing project has been threatened by the recent development in which the government decided to deduct Rs. 4000 off the salaries of the soldiers. The move is not going down well with the soldiers. The deductions are purported to be channeled towards the solders' housing installments.
