Surfing is a very entertaining and popular sport that requires talent, balance, strength and a whole lot of courage. Surfing usually brings pleasure and excitement to the surfers and most importantly the watchers. But no matter how talented and courageous the surfer gets, there is one vital need for surfing. That is a picturesque beach with the right wave conditions.

                                      Beaches that are suitable for surfing are not frequently found around the world. The Arugambay beach properties, situated along the Eastern coastline of Sri Lanka is known as one of the best beaches of the world suitable enough for surfing. To prove the point, there was an international surfing contest commenced in Arugambay on the 30th August 2011 with the participation of more than hundred surfers for more than twenty countries around the world.

                            Tourists are attracted mostly to Arugambay because of the surfing factor. But the whole Eastern seaboard has a lot of tourist attraction in addition for the surfing. Pasikudah, Trinkomalee, Kuchchawelli and Nilaweli are some of the other attractions around the area. Tourists can come here to witness the never out lasting beauty of the Sri Lankan beaches, the calm and clear lagoons of the area and to enjoy the tropical sun instead of the cold climates of their own countries.

Most of these areas were engulfed with the war against terrorism for many years. As far as it’s concerned, Sri Lanka is the only country in the world so far to have eliminated terrorism completely, most tourists come here to witness the remains of the war around these areas. Further more, there are lagoon canoe trips and river canoe trips where anyone can enjoy the beauty of nature with a little hint of adventure.The SLTDA or the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority has taken effective measures to bring this paradise out of its ashes and develop it towards a path of attractive tourism. Now, there are well maintained roads and streets, comfortable and modern hotels, and almost all the facilities to fulfill a travelers needs. In other words, the rapid real estate developments had brought the infrastructure of the area complete for the maximum extent.

                                            There are rumors going on that there will be a rail line and a highway to Arugambay. This definitely would narrow up the difficulties of travelling for a tourist from Colombo to Arugambay. As Arugambay is listed in the top ten most suitable surfing destinations of the world, there are a lot of surfing action coming up in days to came.
